1. Overview of Kunming

Kunming, the capital of Yunnan Province in southwest China, is an important gateway to South and Southeast Asia and a regional international transport hub. With a mild climate throughout the year, it is widely known as the “Spring City”. Kunming also features plateau lakes, natural landscapes and rich multi-ethnic cultural resources. The city is served by Kunming Changshui International Airport and is connected with major cities in Yunnan and across China by high-speed rail, urban metro and road networks, while also offering a broad range of international and regional air routes. In recent years, Kunming has continued to strengthen its transport and commercial links with South and Southeast Asia and has become an important destination in Yunnan for exhibitions, tourism and business travel. Popular attractions in and around the city include Dianchi Lake, the Western Hills, Green Lake, Yunnan Ethnic Village and the Stone Forest. Local specialties include Crossing-the-Bridge Rice Noodles, Steam Pot Chicken, flower cakes and wild mushrooms, making it easy to combine an exhibition visit with local scenery and ethnic culture.

2. What one-day and nearby sightseeing routes are recommended in Kunming?

Suggested classic routes:

1.     Dianchi Scenic Route: Haigeng Dam / Haigeng Park -> Yunnan Ethnic Village -> Western Hills Scenic Area

A good choice for first-time visitors, combining Dianchi Lake scenery with Yunnan ethnic culture. The Western Hills and Dianchi Lake are also among Kunming's signature urban natural landscapes.

2.     City Culture Route: Green Lake Park -> Yunnan Military Academy History Museum -> Kunming Old Street -> Nanping Street

Suitable for a half-day to full-day city walk, with a mix of Kunming history, old-city neighbourhoods, local shopping and dining.

3.     World Heritage Route: Stone Forest Scenic Area (full-day trip)

Located in Shilin Yi Autonomous County, Kunming, the Stone Forest is an important component of the South China Karst UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site. Allow a full day for the round trip and visit.

1. How can exhibitors support green stand construction, and what requirements and recommendations apply?

The exhibition promotes the 6R principles for Go Green, low-carbon stand design and construction: Respect, Remember and Educate, Reuse and Recycle, Reduce Waste, and Renewable Materials. The following requirements and recommendations apply:

  1. Design: use simple stand designs, minimise large irregular structures, and prioritise modular and demountable systems. Promote recyclable materials such as aluminium profiles, trusses and odourless warp-knitted fabric graphics, and reduce the use of timber structures.
  2. Materials: use flame-retardant renewable and recyclable materials that meet fire-safety standards. Non-biodegradable disposable materials and environmentally harmful paints or adhesives are prohibited.
  3. Energy saving: prioritise LED lighting, replace printed posters and brochures with electronic materials, and control the volume and brightness of audiovisual equipment to reduce light and noise pollution.
  4. Construction: sanding, coating and spray-painting are prohibited on site. Minimise dust and harmful-gas emissions, sort construction waste and remove it promptly.
  5. Transport: prioritise clean-fuel vehicles, plan transport routes efficiently, reduce empty runs and lower transport-related carbon emissions.

2. What are the requirements for waste sorting and recycling at booths, and where are the sorting bins?

  1. Exhibitors and contractors must sort and remove construction waste, discarded materials, ink containers and other booth waste. Dumping or storing waste in public aisles, fire lanes or toilets is prohibited.
  2. Raw-space booths must pay a waste-removal deposit. The deposit will be refunded in full after the booth is cleaned, waste is sorted and removed, and the final inspection confirms compliance.
  3. Sorting bins are provided in public areas and exhibition halls for recyclables, residual waste, food waste and hazardous waste. Follow the clearly marked signs when disposing of waste.

3. What are the rules for recycling materials and removing waste during move-out?

During move-out, exhibitors and stand contractors must remove all exhibits, construction materials and waste from the venue. Nothing may be left in the booth or any public area.
